    Fallen Vets honored in Charlotte

    A ceremony in Charlotte Monday morning honored the 19 thousand young men killed in the Battle of the Bulge. The Genesee Valley Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge gathered at Ontario Beach Park. The surviving veterans of the battle that took place 73 years ago are in their 90’s today.     Uptown Charlotte Blocks To Get Complete Makeover With Mixed-Use Project That Includes New Library

    North Tryon between Sixth and Eighth streets is going to be completely transformed with a project called Seventh & Tryon, and Atlanta-based DaVinci Development Collaborative released a request for qualifications Wednesday. A mixed-use public-private partnership has been proposed for 6.8 acres in Uptown as part of the North Tryon Vision Plan. Stakeholders are Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, Mecklenburg County, the city of Charlotte, Bank of America and the Charlotte Housing Authority. A new library will be built as an anchor for the site.
